金継ぎ - Kintsugi

My ambition in this project navigates the space between strength and the vulnerability that sits within us.

I want to visualize the lived experience of a person in the hope that it helps in challenges the personal and social pressure that surrounds male masculinity.

Using the Japanese craft of Kintsugi as an inspiration, I want to portray the beauty in a life lived, where challenging moments of doubt, pain and sorrow are worn with pride and confidence.

These experiences are scars that elevate and enhance us in crafting an image of oneself as both broken and healed and ever so beautiful.

I asked the models to visualize how they felt emotionally and from this we form the "cracks" that stand behind emotional scars.

A story of their personal journey and their experiences and difficulties encountered.

The scars we carry, no matter how hard and how challenging,  transform us, heal us, and ultimately make us who we are.
